I dreamed I took the bull by the horns
Some of you might remember the Maidenform bra adverts from the 1950-196s. The ads depicted women in a range of contexts, naked from the waist up, except for their Maidenform bra. The ads begin with the caption: I dreamed I ...... and then each (there were about 200) finishes with a different dream. Some of the ads describe women's dreams about being beautiful, stylish, charming and desirable. Others are about women having fun and being pampered. Some focus on the dream to live life to the full. Some show women's dreams about travelling to exotic locations or undertaking unusual activities like walking a tight rope or going on a tiger hunt. There are also many dreams about jobs that might not have been available to women at the time, like being a fireman, ambassador, private eye or a toreador. Some depict women in powerful roles, opening a world series sporting event or getting elected. Overall the women are beautiful, desirable and powerful. They are depicted 'grabbing the bull by the horns' and living life to the full.
This page is dedicated to identifying and pursuing dreams. As I get older I have become more aware of the opportunities that I have missed because I felt that I wasn't good (perfect) enough, because I was scared of being vulnerable. I didn't do things so that I wouldn't be confronted by failure and disappointment. There are many women who have dreams they don't pursue - because they don't feel 'something' enough. This page is dedicated to dreams and their pursuit. It may include stories about dreams that 'come true' - but mostly this page is about about deciding what we want and then believing in ourselves enough to have a go at making those dream happen. It doesn't matter so much if we success - the goal is to belief we are good enough to try. The old Maidenform bra ads will be used as a template for recording the dreams and documenting their pursuit.

I dreamed I was an aqua aerobics instructor
I used to dream that I was an aqua aerobics instructor. It started in the 1970s, I loved the leopard skin tights, the headbands, 70s music and the daggy moves. I wanted to do it for 40 years. But, I didn't pursue the dream because I never felt thin enough or fit enough or coordinated enough or popular enough. So, this year I made enquiries about what was involved in becoming an aqua aerobics instructor. What I discovered was that it required an enormous effort, loads of money and stacks of time. This information helped me to decide that I no longer want to become an aqua aerobics instructor. Instead, I bought a pass to my local aqua aerobics class and now I go every weekend with one of my mates. We often go out to breakfast afterwards. It feels extra good to go to classes now, knowing that I believed in myself enough to pursue my dream. It doesn't matter so much that I am not going to become an aqua aerobics instructor, what matters is that I had a go.
